Entitled "An Oasis In The Badlands," this monochrome photo-lithograph is printed on acid-free mouldmade paper and was created by award-winning printmaker Steven Anderson using Edward Curtis' original glass plate negative printing technique and custom ink from France.
The subject of "An Oasis In The Badlands" is the sub-chief Red Hawk from the Oglala tribe, who was born 1854 and fought with Crazy Horse in 1865 in his first war party against U.S. army troops. In this image, Curtis captures the essence of the Great Plains through his careful composition and metaphorical use of water as an aesthetic element.
This limited edition unframed lithograph measures approximately 21" x 27", is individually embossed with a facsimile of Curtis' signature, and numbered according to suite.
Please note: the number of the print you receive may vary from the photos.
