Entitled "The Rush Gatherer," this monochrome photo-lithograph is printed on acid-free mouldmade paper and was created by award-winning printmaker Steven Anderson using Edward Curtis' original glass plate negative printing technique and custom ink from France.
This limited edition lithograph measures approximately 21" x 27", is individually embossed with a facsimile of Curtis' signature, and numbered according to suite.
“The Rush Gatherer,” originally captured in 1910 by Curtis, depicts a moment on Flathead Lake in Northern Montana featuring a member of the Kutenai tribe. Traditionally, the Kutenai people crafted their canoes from pine bark. However, as shown, they also sometimes utilized fresh elk hides stretched over a framework of fir strips for their canoes. Rushes gathered from mountain lakes were dried and woven into mats, lodge coverings, and various practical goods.
Please note: the number of the print you receive may vary from the photos.
