Entitled "The Three Chiefs," this monochrome photo-lithograph is printed on acid-free mouldmade paper and was created by award-winning printmaker Steven Anderson using Edward Curtis' original glass plate negative printing technique and custom ink from France.

"The Three Chiefs" image was originally captured during the summer of 1900 and depicts the culmination of Curtis' expedition to Montana. Alongside renowned ethnographer George Bird Grinnell, Curtis was introduced to Native American communities whose cultural traditions remained largely preserved. These encounters, wherein individuals generously shared their religious beliefs, folklore, and personal stories, inspired Curtis to meticulously document Native American life. This transformative journey irreversibly altered Curtis, marking a profound shift in his perspective and aspirations. This image of three tribal leaders adorned in traditional attire, set against the backdrop of the sprawling prairie, represents the core of Curtis' aesthetic and compositional masterpiece.

This limited edition lithograph measures approximately 21" x 27", is individually embossed with a facsimile of Curtis' signature, and numbered according to suite.
