Entitled "The Vanishing Race," this monochrome photo-lithograph is printed on acid-free mouldmade paper and was created by award-winning printmaker Steven Anderson using Edward Curtis' original glass plate negative printing technique and custom ink from France.
This limited edition lithograph measures approximately 21" x 27", is individually embossed with a facsimile of Curtis' signature, and numbered according to suite.
The "Vanishing Race" was Curtis’ signature piece and exemplified the visual metaphor for the Curtis’ overall visual thesis: American Indians and their culture were vanishing. It was Curtis’ over-arching goal to capture a record of them and their world before they disappeared forever.
